1. Who we are

The Vedic Astrology App(“we”, “us”) operates this website and related services. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

2. Information we collect

Account data. Email and password (stored hashed) when you register.

Birth data. Date, time, and place of birth needed to compute your chart. Place of birth is resolved to latitude, longitude, and timezone.

Life context. Optional context you provide — marital status, career notes, health notes, life events, questions you ask — used to tailor interpretations to your situation.

Usage data. Basic logs of requests (IP address, user agent, timestamps) kept for security and diagnostics. Google Analytics (gtag.js) is used for aggregated page-view statistics.

3. How we use it

  • To compute your chart and generate interpretations.
  • To remember your chart across sessions.
  • To improve accuracy — e.g. caching classical-rule outputs.
  • To detect abuse and secure the service.
  • To communicate service updates.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for advertising.

4. AI interpretation and third-party processors

Chart data and the context you provide are sent to Google Gemini (a Google Cloud LLM service) to generate interpretations. We send only what is needed to produce the reading — numerical positions, dignity labels, dasha periods, and the specific question or context you submitted. Google processes this under their own privacy policy.

We use Google Analytics for aggregated traffic measurement.

5. Storage and retention

Account and chart data are stored in our PostgreSQL database. Cache and session data live in Redis. Data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your stored chart, context, and life events. Aggregated or anonymised usage statistics may be retained.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed. Sessions are protected in Redis with expiry. Traffic is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and its associated data.
  • Withdraw consent by deleting your account.
  • Export the data you provided, on request.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us (see Section 10).

8. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Google Analytics sets cookies for traffic measurement. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time; clearing the session cookie will sign you out.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for users under the age of 13. Please do not register if you are under this age.

11. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
